The Controller will be responsible for directing the organization’s accounting functions by providing controllership and accounting expertise for QualiChem and its global affiliates, to include managing all aspects of accounting from payroll to tax compliance.  In addition, this position will develop and maintain monthly financial statements and tax reporting,

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain the ledger systems for all legal entities and consolidated ledgers
  • Lead the monthly and annual closing process verifying inter-company elimination accuracy and revaluation of all foreign currency transactions and accounts
  • Oversee the accounting function of QualiChem’s China operations
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, corporate company credit cards, payroll processing
  • Supervise employees in business analysis, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
  • Advise management about insurance coverage protection against property loss and potential liabilities
  • Cash control, and corporate tax compliance, multi-state sales tax and income tax activities
  • Review company financial statements for accuracy and clarity
  • Conduct quarterly financial statement reviews with QualiChem’s Management Team
  • Conduct period financial presentations, as required
  • Manage the annual and semi-annual budgeting process
  • Manage asset accounting
  • Evaluate new capital investment and loan activity
  • Coordinate annual audits with external auditors
  • Maintain positive banking relationships

Education and Experience

BS in Accounting and 15+ years as accounting/finance professional with 5-10 years in Controller or Assistant Controller role.  Experience to include use of ERP applications.  Excellent internal controls skills.  Strong analytical skills, detailed knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Excel & Access).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to analyze and conceptualize effects on products and G/L accounts in a multi-entity environment, prior to transactions taking place
  • Understanding of non-US currencies, development of transfer pricing, consolidations of subsidiaries
  • Ability to manage heavy workload and set priorities aligned with business goals
  • Strong organization skills, commitment to the team, creative problem solver,  customer focus/approach to work 
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain positive work relationships
  • Ability to work with people of varying backgrounds and cultures
  • Outstanding leadership skills with the ability to energize others
  • Desire to make meaningful contributions to the overall health of the organization

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA or CMA certification
  • Inventory control
  • Knowledge of publicly traded company regulations
  • Accounting experience with foreign countries

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position directly manages the General Ledger Accountant and Financial Analyst positions.


This position will require less than 10% travel.
