Production Assistant

SUMMARY

The Production Assistant is responsible for tasks involved in the production of the company's products. This position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Fork Lift Operation
    • Loading and unloading trucks
    • Staging raw materials both stacked and racked
  • Material Handling
    • Ability to tip and palletize drums up to 600 pounds
    • Ability to lift, handle, and move bags and pails of chemicals weighing up to 60 pounds
    • Understands units of measure, such as pounds, gallons, quarts, etc., to ensure blends are made properly
    • Identify the proper raw materials as written on the batch tickets
    • Properly execute shipping and receiving paperwork
    • Follow packaging, labeling, and shipping procedures
  • Plant Maintenance
    • Maintain a clean work environment by sweeping and general cleaning as needed
  • Safety
    • Wear safety glasses and steel-toe boots at all times
    • Wear gloves, respirpator, and specified PPE when required
    • Maintain a high level of alertness at all times to ensure your safety and safety of others
    • Notify supervisor of any mechanical or material issues
  • Teamwork
    • Support Chemical Blenders to complete blends
    • Interact with other production team members, lab, purchasing, and customer service in a professional manner

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, stoop, knee, crouch, push, pull, reach, lift, talk, hear and use repetitive motion of wrists, hands, and fingers. Specific vision abilities required by this job include visual acuity to perform an activity such as operating machines and fork lifts and to perform repetitive tasks involved in blending chemicals. The employee must regularly lift and/or move bags and pails of chemicals weighing up to 60 pounds and must regularly tip and palletize drums up to 600 pounds.

The employee is subject to protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The employee is subject to hazards such as moving fork lifts, working on high platforms and exposure to chemicals, as well as fumes, odors, and dusts. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
